Upcoming vehicles, New excitement, for a New World

2011 Chevrolet Spark

Say hello to Spark, the stylish new result of a major global effort - an unparalleled collaboration of design and engineering talent from around the world. Its fresh, clean approach to interior and exterior design, materials and colours is shocking, to be sure, but Spark's true mission is to combine multifunctionality with extreme fuel efficiency - hence the well-designed 4 cylinder engine. It's one more example of Chevrolet's commitment to being an industry leader in fuel economy.  The Spark will be capable of greater than 40 mpg on the highway,

Safety equipment includes driver and passenger front air bags, front side airbags, roof rail head curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control. Other safety features include pretensioners for front seat belts and three-point belts in the rear. Spark has been developed to achieve high crash test ratings.

Beneath its jazzy styling, the 2011 Chevrolet Spark is an orthodox front-drive design like the Matiz and Aveo, with a strut-type front suspension, a simple twist-beam rear axle, coil springs at all corners, and a front-disc/rear-drum braking system. The Matiz has lately been offered with two engines: An 800cc (0.8-liter) 3-cylinder making some 50 horsepower and a 1.0-liter 4-cylinder putting out 65 horsepower.

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt

The Chevrolet Volt is the revolutionary new extended range electric vehicle designed for everyday city drivers. For Canadians who typically drive 65 kilometres per day or less, this rechargeable, plug-in electric vehicle will use zero gas and produce zero emissions. And when the range is more than 65 kilometres, the Volt's small gasoline-powered generator kicks in to extend its range for hundreds of kilometres1. It's time to do more than just think about the future. It's time to start shaping it.

The Benefits of Electricity

Every kilometre powered by electricity is one less driven by gasoline. Canada has a majority of its electricity produced from hydro electric and nuclear sources that have low greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Because of this, when driving the Volt up to 65 km in Battery Electric mode, the Volt's GHG emissions will be significantly lower than any hybrid vehicle on the market today, even if you include the emissions of the electricity used to charge the Volt1. And electricity production in Canada is becoming even "greener" with more renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar.

2012 Sonic

Some rules are just easier to break. Case in point: the upcoming 2012 Sonic. For one, just look at it. Small-car aesthetic conventions? Obviously broken. Secondly, uncommon refinements to steering and suspension give Sonic a responsiveness that sets it apart from its peers. Compact-car ride and handling standards? Shattered. But are there any rules this little car doesn't break? Yes - Sonic obeys the laws of physics. So you can see it right now...but it'll be a bit before you get to hear it.  The Sonic will be available with a standard 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, though buyers can opt up for a turbocharged 1.4-liter producing 138 horsepower, which is 18 ponies more than the Fiesta. Shifting duties are handled by either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
