The GM Protection Plan – Protection for you and you GM vehicle
General Motors is pleased to provide 5 year powertrain warranties on all new model vehicles as a way of demonstrating the quality of our vehicle, and our ongoing commitment to you, our valued customer.
We also offer the GM Protection Plan as an additional measure to protect yourself against potentially costly repairs to the rest of your vehicle’s electrical and mechanical components, particularly as your ultimate option for you GM vehicle.

GSL Chev City offers professional, factory-trained technicians, using new, GM remanufactured or non-GM remanufactured replacement parts in any GMPP repairs performed on your vehicle.
What other benefits do I receive with GMPP?
Rental/Alternate Transportation Allowance
A $40 per day allowance is provided by all three levels of GMPP coverage to help cover the cost of a rental vehicle or other form of alternate transportation. This allowance is made available while your vehicle is in the shop for covered repairs that require at least two hours of shop labor time. This benefit is subject to a $200 maximum per occurrence.
Towing? Road Service Allowance
GMPP Powertrain and Custom feature a $75 allowance towards Towing and Emergency Road Service expenses.
GM Roadside Assistance
GMPP select provide additional “Peace of Mind” convenience by offering 24 hour assistance for lost or locked-in keys, flat tire changing, out-of-fuel emergencies, jump starts and even provides lodging and meal allowance isn’t the event your vehicle breakdown leaves you stranded out of towns! Your GM Roadside benefit also provides you with a personalized trip planning service to any destination in Canada or the U.S.
“Normal Wear” Coverage
All GMPP Plans improve with age by providing coverage to parts and assemblies that simply wear out due to normal wear. It is this unique that makes GMPP even more valuable, particularly as your vehicle ages. A few examples of parts that can simply wear out are piston rings, ball joints, water pumps and alternators. This “Normal Wear” Coverage applies to the specific parts and assemblies covered by the level of GMPP Coverage you select. It does not apply to non-covered or maintenance items such as brake shoes, pads, shock absorbers, etc.
What’s covered?
The following is a comparative listing of components protected under each of the three levels of GMPP coverage. See your Dealer for a complete list of plan coverage’s and features.
1. SELECT
Roadside Assistance – Provides 24 hour assistance for lost/locked-in keys, flat tire changing, out of fuel emergencies, jump starts, plus lodging and meal allowances and a convenient trip routing service.
Power Accessories – Power window, power door locks, power seat motors and adjusting mechanism, power antenna, cruise control, rear window defroster, factory-installed keyless entry system, electronic level control compressor, sensor and limiter valve, factory-installed compass readout, thermometer readout. HVAC temperature control module, and radio/cassette player/CD/MP3/Satellite radio (as equipped).
2. CUSTOM
Cooling and Fuel – Radiator, face and clutch, engine fan motor, fuel tank, fuel lines and fuel tank selector valve.
Steering – Gear housing and all internal parts, hydraulic/electric power steering pump, steering main and intermediate shafts, couplings, idler arm, pitman arm, seals and gaskets and power steering hoses.
Front Suspension – Upper and lower control arms, control arm shafts and bushings, upper and lower ball joints, king pins, steering knuckles, deals, stabilizer shaft and stabilizer bushings.
Brakes – Master cylinder, assist boosters, wheel cylinders, combination valve, hydraulic lines and fittings, disc calipers, seals, gaskets, modulator valve/dump valve, pump motor assembly and accumulator, ABS hydraulic Modulator, ABS module, sensors, relays, switches and solenoids.
Electrical – Starter motor and solenoid, decontrol, distributor, wiring harnesses, wiper motors, washer pump, manually operated electrical switches, electronic control module, body computer/control module, powertrain control module, ignition module and electrical instrument cluster.
Heater and Factory-Installed Air conditioner – Compressor, clutch and pulley, condenser, evaporator, accumulator, seals, high/low pressure compressor cut-off switch and pressure cycling switch, heater core, blower motor and air conditioning hoses.
3. POWERTRAIN
Engine – Cylinder block heads, all internally lubricated engine parts, manifold, timing gears, timing gear chain/belt, timing gear cover, flywheel, oil pump/oil pump housing, seals, gaskets, water pump, fuel pump, fuel level sensor, harmonic balancer, OHC carriers, valve covers, oil pan and engine mounts. Also covered are turbocharger/supercharger housing, internal parts, valves, intercooler, seals and gaskets.
Diesel Engine – All of the above parts, plus diesel fuel injection pump, lines and nozzles.
Transmission/Transaxle – Case, all internal parts, torque converter, transfer case, encoder motor actuator, transfer case encoder motor, transmission mounts, seals and gaskets.
Front/Rear Wheel Drive – Final drive housing, all internal parts, axle shafts and axle shaft bearings, constant velocity joints, front differential actuator, axle housing, all internal parts, propeller shafts, “u” joints, wheel bearings, locking g hubs, supports, front hub bearings and rear axle hub bearings, seals and gaskets.
Transferable Coverage
GMPP can increase the resale value of your vehicle. If you sell your vehicle before the GMPP coverage expires, the remaining coverage may be transferred to subsequent retail owners as no charge.
Easy to Buy
You may be able to include the cost of GM Protection Plans as part of your lease or finance payments.
Used Vehicle Coverage must be purchased at the time of vehicle sale.
Deductible
In the event your vehicle requires repairs covered by GMPP, you pay only your deductible charge per repair visit; pull taxes applicable to the deductible. Should the same part fail again, non deductible will apply to that failure.
Something for Everyone
The GM protection Plan is available in 3 different levels of coverage; each offer a choice of time/kilometer options to suit your driving needs. A variety of time and kilometer options are available, up to 6 years or 160,000 kilometers on new vehicles, and up to 4 years and 80,000 kilometers on used vehicles.
